The Gyeonghuigung Annex Building’s historic architectural characteristics suit its location near the wide courtyard of Gyeonghuigung (a royal villa during the Joseon period).
|
| |
|
The building has an exhibition area with over 10-meter high ceilings, iron and structural works inside showing the original construction of the building, and circular hallways with flowing lines. It has a very distinct personality from the cold feeling of modernism. |
| |
With this building SeMA possesses two contrasting and unique exhibition spaces – a neutral white cube area and a separate, dynamic and alternative space. This contrast has helped SeMA to truly stand as the representative art museum of Seoul, in name and reality.

The Gyeonghuigung Annex Building attracts many exhibitions and receives general applications from artists, giving the people of Seoul many opportunities to view various artworks.
